What is Peer Support
Thrive to Inspire firmly believes that connecting with others through shared lived experiences is not only effective but creates a sense of connection and understanding which can be beneficial to the recovery process. Here at Thrive to Inspire our certified peers take pride in remaining adherent to the ethical and core principles of peer delivered Services, implementing trauma informed approaches to peer relationships, and educating that recovery looks different for everyone. Peer Support Services have become a worldwide, evidence-based practice fostering hope and exploration that recovery is indeed possible. Peer services are provided by Certified professionals, also referred as Peer Support Specialists, who have been trained to draw from their own life experiences while providing supportive services which promote recovery and wellness, foster self-determination, encourage self-advocacy, enhance overall wellbeing, and promote independence and community inclusion. Peers can effectively draw from their own lived experiences with mental health challenges and or substance use challenges – by offering unique insight and encouragement by walking along side of participants as they work to achieve their own desired recovery path), whatever that may look like.
We here at Thrive to Inspire offer various peer led support groups and our Certified Peers can offer one on one support, depending on what feels more comfortable for the participant.
Available Support Groups:
WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training), Women Helping Women Recover, DBT Skills informed, WHAM (Whole Health Action Management), WHEST (Whole Health Action Management), MRT (Moral Recognition Therapy), Creative Expressions Art Group, Open Support Group, Worry and Control, Anger management, and Self Advocacy Group.
